RESULTS
There has been no NSRA sanctioned Sprint Racing in Australia since the outbreak of Equine Influenza in Australia in August 2007.
Racing is expected to re commence in NSW, ACT, Victoria and QLD in latre 2009
RESULTS FOR NSRA SANCTIONED SPRINT RACE AT COWRA TB MEETING 6 July 2007: Sprinters ran today on a NSW Thoroughbred race track for the first time in probably 20 years! Although a small field the Sprinters were well received running over 275m (approx 300 yards) in 17.63 on a Dead 5 Track.
The race was won by Show Rose (TB) by a neck in a photo from Queensland owned Quarter Horse Lite My Fire with Appaloosa stallion Tallon 1/2 length away third. The winner is owned by Ms P Smith and Ms J Smith of Canberra, Lite My Fire is owned by Mr I Rosnow of Toowoomba QLD and Tallon is owned by Jarama Racing Syndicate, Collector NSW.
Stewards reported that Show Rose and Tallon each carried 67kg while Lite My Fire carried 86kg. The rider of Tallon was dislodged after the finish.
Official attendance figures are not available at the time of writing but around 2000 people attended Cowra race track for the picnic race meeting. Photos and video will be made available on this website asap and a full report will be found in magazines and newspapers over the next few weeks.
Sprint Racing will appear next in NSW at Queanbeyan TB Track on 21 July 2007.
SPRINTERS RACE ON THOROUGHBRED PROGRAM AT QUEANBEYAN NSW
21 July 2007 - Sprinters returned to Queanbeyan today for the first time since 1970 and presented an exciting show. Among the crowd lining the fence were TB Trainers, Jockeys and visiting Appaloosa and Quarter Horse friends who were there to see the Sprinters race.
Show Rose again showed that TB racehorses can be competitive, while Appaloosa Stallion Tallon improved slightly to second and Lite My Fire was a close 3rd. Time 17.5 Track Dead.The Sprinters will be back at Queanbeyan on 1 September 2007.
