RACING AT CALDER PARK VICTORIA
Ewan Bradfield is beleived to have been the President of the Victorian Sprint Racing Club when racing was conducted at Calder Park. Few records exist but the Committee is known to have included Len Ridsdale, Sharon Ridsdale , the late John Costello, Michelle Parry and Paul DuBois.
Bradfiled is said to have been innovative and instrumental in obtaining sponsorship from Bob Jane to get Calder Park racing underway.
Brian Flanagan was president of the club when the VSRC raced at Bacchus Marsh (after the Calder Park Days). George Stromonsky (spelling?) took over as president when Flanagan’s health deteriorated. Stromonsky was a local businessman.
People who were involved in racing at Calder Park included Darcy Donohue & his son Terry, the late John & wife Dianne Costello, Bob Lodding & Gail Costa, Tommy Hall, Joe Agresta, a jockey who still rides trackwork for Bart Cummings & of course Michelle Parry & Paul DuBois.
