27/04/2010 - Meeting held with The Hon Kevin Green. Representatives of both the NSRA and NARA held a fruitful meeting with the NSW Racing Minister today. The meeting covered a range of issues relating to the racing of Alternate Racing Codes (including Sprint Racing) in NSW.
Further discussions will take place in coming weeks.

09/04/2010 - Work continues to establish NSRA sanctioned racing in Victoria - Work continues in Victoria as the Victorian Government recently passed amendments to local Workcover Legislation which will simplify the use of TB Licensed Jockeys in Sprint Races conducted within TB race meetings.
The way is now clear to conduct NSRA sanctioned racing within TB Race Meetings in Victoria. A number of avenues are currently being explored with Victorian Race Clubs.

07/04/2010 - Meeting to be held with NSW Minister for Racing. The NSRA continues to work towards a permanent high quality Sprint Racing Industry in Australia. This meeting, to be held on 27 April 2010 is to address iissues arising from recent discussions with Racing NSW, the Ministers Office and the NSW Department
Jn the mean time more than 10 race clubs in NSW have indicated a desire to conduct Sprint Racing within TB Race Meetings if approval is granted by Racing NSW.

29/03/2010 - NSRA to Voluntary Deregister Company - The NSRA Board has decided to voluntary deregister the Company. This is due to the increasing costs relating to maintaining the legislated requirements for an Australian Company and the decreasing cash flows from the industry.
The Company status can be re established in the future if required. The NSRA will continue to work towards establishing a high quality national Sprint Racing Industry.

01/03/2010 - QUEENSLAND RACING BOARD WITHDRAWS POLICY The QRB has advised that the policy and agreements to race on TB racetracks in QLD, which were negotiated by the ARQ, NSRA and NARA, have been withdrawn. Two reasons were given:
- No action taken in recent years by the local QLD industry to implement Alternate Racing including Sprint Racing within the agreed Policy; and
- Recent enquiries by a number of individuals wanting to implement Sprint Racing outside the ARQ/QLD Government/QRB agreement that Sprint racing would be conducted by a single organisation under the NSRA Rules of Sprint Racing

14/01/2010 - CANBERRA CANCELLED - The Canberra Race Club has advised they will not proceed with the race to be conducted on 21 February 2010. The stated reason for cancellation was that the club was not convinced that suitable insurance arrangements were in place. Neither the NSRA Board nor the Associations Solicitors agree with that statement.

08/08/09 - NSRA SANCTIONED RACING IN ACT - With approvals in place to race in the ACT, the NSRA is in detail discussions with the ACT Racing Club. Full details will be available in coming days. At this stage one major race is planned for the ACT in February and the ACT Racing Club has approved participation in barrier trials at Canberra after the ACT moves to daylight saving later in the year.

18/07/2009 - CHANGES TO RULES RELATING TO USE OF THE WHIP - All Licensed persons should ensure that both they and any jockey or track work rider employed by them are up to date on the latest changes to the use of the whip under the Australian Rules of Racing. These changes will apply to all NSRA sanctioned racing from 1 August 2009. A Policy will be released on this issue prior to the commencement of the 2009/2010 Racing Season.

14/07/2009 - NSRA SANCTIONED RACING IN NSW - Negotiations continue with Racing Clubs in NSW to establish a program of racing on NSW TB Race Tracks during 209/2010. Race Tracks in the Northern Rivers area and in the South of the State have indicated a willingness to participate. As the concept already has approval, Racing NSW is expected to finalise approvals for the NSW racing program in coming weeks.

15/06/2009 - NSRA DISCUSSIONS IN VICTORIA - Maureen Milburn from NARA will represent the NSRA at a meeting to be held today at the office of the Victorian Racing Minister The Hon Rob Hulls. The meeting will include representatives from RVL and the Department. The parties are addressing anomalies in the Victorian Legislation and the requirements for recognition of both the NSRA and NARA under AR(6).

15/06/2009 - NSRA CURRENTLY IN DISCUSSIONS WITH QRB RE ARQ POLICY - The NSRA is currently in discussions with the QRB as part of the current review of the QRB Policy relating to Alternate Racing Codes. A second round of discussions is due over the coming week.

14/06/2009 - QSPRINT HOLDS DISCUSSIONS WITH NSRA - QSprint, the recently formed Sprint Race Club in QLD has been in discussions with the NSRA regarding racing in QLD being sanctioned by the ARQ, the QLD arm of the NSRA. Although some work remains to be done, it is hoped the discussions will be successful and QSprint will race under the NSRA/ARQ banner when they commence racing in 2010. Currently the ARQ is the only body approved to race Sprinters on QLD TB tracks.

14/06/2009 - NSRA HOLDS TALKS WITH “NATIONAL ADVISORY BODY” FROM 2008 CONFERENCE The NSRA has been in discussions with the remaining members of the National Advisory Body formed at the 2008 Conference. The discussions which have centred around the NSRA providing the national framework for Sprint Racing in Australia and the Advisory Body representing the interests of the Quarter Horse Racing sector have been very productive.

13/06/2009 - NEGOTIATIONS TO COMMENCE RACING IN ACT - Negotiations are well underway to establish NSRA sanctioned Sprint Racing in the ACT. Wide ranging discussions have been underway for over a year and an announcemnt is imminent relating to this project.
